About two hours, door to door

From Mississauga the getaway starts pointed the right way - you're already on the west side of the GTA, and Tyrolean Village sits about two hours from your driveway at the base of Blue Mountain. Grandparents to toddlers, one roof

Our chalets run from 4 to 8 bedrooms, which changes what a Mississauga family trip can look like: grandparents get their own room, toddlers get a quiet room for naps, and everyone still sits down to dinner at one big table. Full kitchens let you cook the way you do at home, fireplaces pull everyone together after dark, and several chalets have games rooms with ping-pong to keep the kids occupied. The 8-Bedroom Stand-Alone Chalet (54) hosts the biggest gatherings, with a hot tub and sauna of its own.

One big chalet, split between families

A simple way for two or three Mississauga households to do this trip: take one large chalet and split the cost. The Brand-New Luxury 7-Bedroom Chalets (A16 and A17) each hold a serious crowd, with private hot tubs and dining tables built for the whole group under one roof. And because you book direct with our family — on the website or by phone — there are no platform service fees inflating anyone's share.

A guests-only beach for the kids

About a five-minute drive from the chalets is a sandy Georgian Bay beach reserved for Tyrolean guests only — it isn't open to the public. For families with kids, it becomes the fixed point of a summer day: beach in the morning, back to the chalet BBQ for lunch, hot tub in the evening. Summer here also means golf, hiking the escarpment and cycling the Georgian Trail, all close by.

Ski season, fall colours, village nights

Blue Mountain is Ontario's largest ski resort, and the lifts are minutes away — in winter, the same chalet that hosted your beach weeks becomes a ski base, with the hot tub earning its keep after a cold day. Blue Mountain Village, with its 25-plus restaurants, shops and bars, is within walking distance, and downtown Collingwood is a short drive. In fall, the escarpment colours alone are worth the same roughly two-hour run from Mississauga.

Questions, answered

How long is the drive from Mississauga to Tyrolean Village?

About two hours door to door. Starting from Mississauga means you're already on the west side of the GTA, so you skip the crawl across Toronto before the highway opens up.

Can two or three families share one chalet?

Yes — that's what the bigger chalets are for. Bedrooms run from 4 to 8, with the 8-Bedroom Stand-Alone Chalet (54) the largest, and every chalet has a full kitchen and a dining table big enough for the whole group to eat together. Grandparents, parents and toddlers can share one roof instead of scattering across separate units.

Is there really a private beach?

Yes — a sandy beach on Georgian Bay reserved for Tyrolean guests only, about a five-minute drive from the chalets. It isn't open to the public, so on summer days the kids have room to spread out.

Do the chalets have hot tubs?

Most of our 12 chalets have private hot tubs, and several — including the 6-Bedroom Cottages 52R and 53L — also have saunas. Several chalets have games rooms with ping-pong too, which keeps the kids busy while the adults soak.

How do I book, and are there service fees?

Book directly on our website, where you can see live availability for each chalet, or call us at (416) 213-7437. You're booking with the family that has run Tyrolean since 1964, so there are no platform service fees. If you're not sure which chalet fits your group, inquire and we'll help you choose.
