A Girls’ Weekend at Blue Mountain: Where to Stay, Eat and Unwind
Blue Mountain works for a girls’ weekend because everything sits close together: a chalet big enough for the whole group, the Village a walk away for dinner and drinks, and spas, wineries and the ski hills within a short drive. Here’s how we’d plan two nights, using the places we send our own guests.
Where to stay: one house, everyone together
A hotel splits the group across rooms and a hallway. A chalet gives you one living room, one long table and one kitchen, which is most of the weekend.
| Group | Chalet | Good to know |
|---|---|---|
| Up to 8 | 4-bedroom apartment (B1) | 150 m from the ski lifts, fireplace |
| Up to 10 | 4-bedroom cottages (FO1, FO2) | Fireplace, deck with mountain views |
| Up to 14 | 7-bedroom luxury chalets | Private hot tub, 14 beds, most bedrooms with their own bathroom, linens and towels included |
| Up to 20 | 8-bedroom chalet #54 | Private hot tub and indoor cedar sauna |
For the full spa-at-home weekend, pick a luxury chalet or #54: those are the ones with a private hot tub. Split between the group, a weekend night works out to roughly $80 to $140 a person; the price guide has the numbers for each chalet. Every chalet is a 10 to 20 minute walk from Blue Mountain Village, so nobody has to drive home from dinner.
Unwind: spas and a slow morning
The Scandinave Spa and its outdoor baths are a short drive from the chalets, and it’s the classic Blue Mountain spa day. In Collingwood, Cedar & Sage offers float therapy, registered massage and hot yoga under one roof, and Living Shore Spa does massage and aesthetic treatments. Spas book up on weekends, so reserve your times when you book the chalet. Our spas page has the contact details.
Not everyone wants a treatment. The chalet covers that: coffee on the deck, the hot tub in the snow, and a fireplace for whoever is still in pyjamas at noon.
Eat and drink: the Village on foot
Blue Mountain Village has more than 40 shops, restaurants and bars along its cobblestone streets. For a proper dinner, The Pottery is the original restaurant at Blue Mountain Resort, with a harvest table for a big group, and Lakeside Seafood + Grill is the waterfront table in the area; both take group bookings, so call ahead. Afterwards, MJ Byrne’s Irish Pub in the Village pours 28 draft beers. More options are on our dining and night life pages.
For the morning after, Royal Majesty Espresso Bar Bakery is on Jozo Weider Boulevard, and Press Market does smoothies, bowls and pressed juice, and delivers to your door. If you’d rather stay in for the big dinner, a private chef or caterer will come to the chalet.
Get out: wine, cider and the hill
The area between Blue Mountain and Thornbury is wine and cider country. The Roost Wine Company, Georgian Hills Vineyards and Thornbury Village Cider and Brewhouse are all a short drive, and Side Launch and Collingwood Brewery are in town. To skip the designated driver, Blue Mountain & Collingwood Adventure Tours runs all-inclusive tasting tours, and The Beer Bus gives Tyrolean guests 15% off; see guest discounts and our group activities list.
In winter the ski hills are a 7 to 10 minute walk from the chalets, with tubing, skating and snowshoeing nearby for the non-skiers; see winter activities. From late spring to fall, your group has our private beach on Georgian Bay, about five minutes’ drive away and reserved for Tyrolean guests. The Village is good for an afternoon of shopping in any season.
A two-night plan
- Friday: check in between 4 and 7 PM, pick up groceries at the Village Market, then an easy night in: charcuterie, the hot tub, and the fireplace.
- Saturday: spa in the morning, lunch in the Village, a winery and cider tour in the afternoon, dinner at The Pottery, then a drink at MJ Byrne’s and the walk home.
- Sunday: a big breakfast at the chalet. Checkout is 11 AM; a late checkout until 3 PM can sometimes be arranged for $50 plus tax, so ask when you book.
Good to know before you book
The minimum stay is 2 nights, and 3 over holiday weekends. Guests must be 25 or older unless the manager approves otherwise. Each chalet has a maximum number of guests, and only the people on the booking can stay or visit. The town has a noise bylaw around the clock, and hot tubs close at 11 PM. A $1,500 security deposit is held on a card at check-in and released after your stay. In the Swiss-style chalets you bring your own bed sheets, pillowcases and towels; the luxury chalets include them. Details are in minimum stay and check-in and our rental information.
